Support Services

Health Office

Our certified school nurse assesses the physical well-being of our students, provides routine health screening, and administers first aid and all medications. In addition, the school nurse teaches health education according to the core curriculum standards. Topics include personal health, safety, nutrition, and family life education.

Consulting Staff

Our psychiatric consultant makes regular observations of students in the classroom and holds individual student interviews when necessary. The psychologist consultant observes students and meets with selected students in small groups.

Social Worker

The social worker oversees parent services and coordinates the intake process. Parent support services are offered to ensure on-going communication between home and school, to provide input so parents can share effective child rearing and behavior management skills, and to give parents opportunities to network with other parents.

The Forum School Parents’ Association

The FSPA sponsors a variety of activities for students and families throughout the year, as well as engaging in fund raising. In conjunction with the art and music teachers, parents provide enrichment programs such as marionette theatre, multicultural music, dance demonstrations and workshops, printmaking and cartooning, wood and concrete sculpture, as well as performances to celebrate Black History Month and other seasonal events.

Speech Department

The Forum School provides speech and language therapy as mandated by a student’s Individualized Education Program. (Click here for more information)

Occupational / Physical Therapy

Occupational and physical therapy facilities are available on-site and provided by private practitioners. If OT and/or PT are designated as related services in the child’s IEP, the local sending district will contract for them.
