Pre-School
Our pre-school curriculum emphasizes the development of language skills, social skills, readiness skills, and classroom skills. A structured environment and routine are provided and tasks are taught through active, multi-sensory, hands-on learning experiences.
Self-Contained Classes
These classes have between 5 and 10 students and are staffed according to each student’s need for support. Lessons are individual, in small groups, or taught to the whole class. Each class has a behavior management system that is based on individual and group goals. The teachers encourage self controls and guide children toward socially acceptable resolution of problems.
Departmentalized Program
The goal of this program is to encourage and allow students to take increasing initiative and responsibility for themselves and to provide a transition to a less restrictive academic or vocational placement. Students are assigned to a homeroom and each homeroom group changes classes as a unit for language arts, math, social studies, or science taught by teachers certified in each area. Students are expected to move from classroom to classroom without difficulty, follow a schedule, organize books and assignments, and adapt to different teachers and teaching styles. Academics and social skills are emphasized in the departmentalized classes.
